Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: August 29, 2026

Persuasion Lab teaches persuasion as an objective science. That knowledge can be used to communicate more effectively, or to recognize when others are trying to influence you. This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) defines the narrow set of uses we prohibit outright, and the additional guardrails that apply to our most powerful features. It supplements our Terms of Service and applies to every account and every request made to our systems.

1. Absolute Prohibitions

You may not use Persuasion Lab, its outputs, or its API to:

  • Deceive or defraud. Generate content designed to mislead people about facts, identities, or intentions — including disinformation, deepfake scripts, phishing, impersonation of real people or organizations, or fabricated testimonials, reviews, or endorsements.
  • Interfere with elections or democratic participation. Create voter-suppression content, targeted political advertising, content designed to misrepresent candidates or officials, or messaging intended to depress turnout in any jurisdiction.
  • Run coordinated inauthentic behavior. Build sockpuppet networks, astroturf campaigns, coordinated harassment, or any operation that hides its true origin to manufacture the appearance of grassroots consensus.
  • Target or harm identifiable individuals. Generate personalized manipulation scripts, harassment campaigns, stalking playbooks, or coercion strategies aimed at a specific person without their knowledge and consent.
  • Exploit protected groups or vulnerable people. Produce content that targets people based on protected characteristics, medical conditions, addiction, grief, financial distress, or cognitive vulnerability.
  • Facilitate illegal activity. Social-engineer credentials or access, defraud consumers, evade sanctions, launder money, or violate any applicable law in the jurisdictions where you or your targets are located.
  • Attack the platform itself. Reverse-engineer prompts, extract training data, exfiltrate other users’ content, bypass rate limits, or attempt to remove the safety layer described in Section 3.

2. Campaign Hub — Additional Rules

The Campaign Hub produces multi-channel narrative strategy, audience profiling, counter-campaign analysis, and related influence-operation tooling. These capabilities are legitimate for product launches, cause advocacy, negotiation preparation, and communication training, but they carry a higher risk of misuse. Accordingly:

  • Every campaign creation flow requires you to complete a non-skippable ethical impact assessment before we will generate content. Falsifying that assessment is grounds for termination.
  • Political campaigns targeting real elections, real candidates, or real ballot measures are not permitted on this platform. Educational, historical, and hypothetical political analysis (e.g., studying the rhetorical structure of a past speech) is permitted; generating live campaign material is not.
  • Audience profiling must be aggregate and hypothetical. Uploading real-person PII — voter files, customer lists containing identifiers, harvested social-media data — is prohibited.
  • Counter-campaign features are for defensive analysis and inoculation research only. They may not be used to plan retaliatory disinformation, doxing, or reputational attacks.

3. Safety Layer

Our models refuse many requests that fall inside the categories above even when users insist. Do not attempt to jailbreak, obfuscate, or reframe prohibited requests to bypass those refusals. Repeated attempts to bypass safety guardrails are themselves a violation of this AUP and will result in account action, regardless of whether the underlying request was ever fulfilled.

4. Reporting Violations

If you believe someone is using Persuasion Lab in violation of this AUP — against you, against your organization, or in a public campaign — contact us at abuse@persuasionlab.app. Include the content, the URL or account handle if known, and any context that would help us investigate. We do not disclose reporter identities without consent.

5. Enforcement

Violations may result in any of the following, at our sole discretion and without prior notice:

  • Removal of the offending content and revocation of API keys.
  • Suspension or permanent termination of your account, without refund.
  • Referral to the AI provider(s) whose usage policies you also violated by using our service.
  • Cooperation with law-enforcement or regulatory inquiries where legally required.

We may update this AUP as the platform evolves and as new misuse patterns emerge. Material changes will be announced in-product and via email to account holders.

6. Provider Policies

Persuasion Lab is built on third-party AI models. Your use of the service is also bound by the usage policies of those providers. Where our AUP is stricter than a provider policy, ours governs; where a provider policy is stricter, theirs governs. In no case does anything you generate through this platform escape the obligations of both.
